As an up and coming artist, Alia’s signature style, which marries the modern and the traditional, is a sight to see. Having had her work exhibited around and outside of the UAE, Alia’s craft is on an inspiring upward trajectory. Her unbound creativity and artistic sense urged us to ask her to be one of our ‘creators without compromise’ series with Fujifilm.
See below to learn more about Alia Lootah’s uncompromising creativity and to view amazing images from a week in her life captured with the FujiFilm Finepix X100.

“I work predominantly on paintings; Most of my paintings are inspired by photography. The time aspect of the photograph, the shutter speed, the light, the motion, all of these elements shape my idea for creating a painting. I paint photos that were taken in seconds or fractures of a second. The paintings take much longer to paint, and that is when I truly enjoy the process of what I am doing.”
“I often use the digital format because for me the photo is a means to produce a painting, so it is important for me to be able to alter the image digitally and edit it the way I like. In terms of keeping and archiving the photos, it is much easier to have access to a big number of photographs. I loved the Fujifilm X100 for 2 reasons; I can't get over how beautiful it looks and ofcourse, I love how it is very friendly, yet professional at the same time.”
“I was born and raised in the UAE (Dubai). The development that I have witnessed has affected me and my work, a lot of my work deals with the city and its rapid development.”
Check out Alia's photos below for a close-up look into her unique point of view. Alia's series of photos explores her over-exposed technique, in which the light becomes brighter and the scene becomes more blurred. Her technique which also sets some photos out of focus helps in achieving and atmosphere rather than a subject matter.
