After a nice long race on Makshoof Music, we finally have the results of the Home-grown to Hollywood opportunity. Read below to find out who won!
Nine weeks of great music, great enthusiasm, a variety beyond belief and a renewed faith in the regional music scene. Makshoof Music currently hosts more than 90 artists and bands and over 300 original songs from regional musicians from Egypt, Lebanon to Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
We’d first and foremost like to thank all of you who participated and enriched our platform with your inspired music and all of you who visited, voted and commented! What an exciting ride.
Why did they win? Well, aside from the voting explanation below, the judges told us two main things: consistency in the charts from the start, and the focus musically on consistency and melodies. It was a close race, and to those who aren't going, there's an even bigger announcement. See below!
This is by no means a 'runner-up' list, and ultimately, these artists will get more financially out of not making to LA. Why? Read up here.
The judges for this competition included notable industry professionals from the US, UK and the Middle East. After listening to the tracks, the judges rated 70% of the score on songwriting, commerciality, interaction with the platform and melody/structure. The remaining 30% was based on popularity, sharing and user interactivity (which as suggested, isn’t just linked to likes, but also comments and sharing to social networks).
Due to privacy restrictions and international issues, the judges cannot be named, but will be made available to the shortlist in individual feedback emails over the next 10 days. However, rest assured your comments, votes and support has been measured so closely it two extra weeks to collate!
