Sneakerheads: Mugren Al-Ohaly

Our region is full of contrasts, different points of view and of course colorful lifestyles. In this special photography series we take a look at six regional Sneakerheads. Read below to find out more!

What’s a Sneakerhead? A sneakerhead is someone who has a deep-rooted passion for seeking out special kicks and growing a unique collection. It’s more than just shoes, each of the individuals we’ve decided to profile (in association with Nike Sportswear) have very interesting and very stylish stories to tell.

Sneaky Suspect

Mugren Al-Ohaly is a 24 year old half Saudi, half American marketing co-orindinator who lives in Dhahran.

Collective Sense

Mugren started collecting at around 17, when his feet stopped growing! seven years and over fifty pairs later Mugren's Dad still teases him about his obsession. The teasing may continue for some yet as Mugren believes you can never have enough pairs of sneakers, because each pair makes a unique statement. Mugren adds to his collection, mostly when he's on vacation, adding his voice to others we have profiled such as Noreldine Al Fase, also from Saudi, he would love to see Sneaker stores in the Middle East stock more interesting sneakers, so they can grow and enhance their collection.

The Firm Favourite

Mugren's favourite pair of Nike Sneakers is the Air Rift. He says " There just isn't any other shoe that comes close to the design and versatility of it"

Dreaming of Jordan

Showing more similarities with his fellow countryman Noureldine, Mugren loves Nike Air Jordan's. He has always wanted a pair and and is pretty specific about what he wants: The SB Dunk High in "Summit White" or the Air Yeezy.

It’s more than just shoes, each of the individuals we’ve decided to profile (in association with Nike Sportswear) have very interesting and very stylish stories to tell.

Sneaky Suspect

Heba Bella is a 23 year old architect who resides in Dubai and Dhahran in Saudi Arabia. She grew up in Saudi Arabia, where her love for sneakers started.

Family Ties

Heba started collecting at a young age, her passion for sneakers was driven by her sporty nature. She tells us: "I played a a lot of sports growing up, and naturally I gravitated towards sneakers." So, what kept her going on? "Definitely, the versatility and style." Heba adds. And as to where she gts her kicks from (since relocating to Dubai for her job, she's left a bigger collection back in her hometown of Dhahran)?

Heba says "Mostly abroad, I got my favorite pair in New York!". It's also important to note that Heba shares this passion with her older brother, Emad - who is a collector as well.

Colorful Choice

Heba might've started her collection habit as a result of her hobbies, but she tell sus that she gravitates towards the more 'girly' choices, case in point her favorite sneakers are the blue women Nike hi top dunks.

Royal Kicks

Heba tell us her dream kicks (as of the moment) are the Nike Air Royalty Hi.
