Sho? - I Don't Wanna Go! [EP]

Sho?, have released an EP that blends an impressive mix of genres with amazing vocals and tight production.

Sho? have a unique style and sound that transgresses any real direct comparisons with any contemporaries. Riff-heavy, with hints of punk and ska, the songs are a largely a take on life with a distinct, and definitely unique, sound. The self-produced EP is a polished and well constructed first-up effort.

Front-woman Zara Quiroga's strong, impressive vocals and impassioned lyrics really stand-out in this offering, adding considerably to the already fundamentally strong song-writing. The accessibility of the opening track, the eponymous and hook-laden track Sho?, might not be out of place on any radio format, with a catchy chorus giving us the title of the EP as Quiroga exclaims 'I Don't Wanna Go!'. The hard-to-ignore ska/punk origins of Crash produce something different again, with Rizal Khan's guitars given a lot more room to play as the song develops.

The third track, P(h)ride, is delivered by the band, aided by Quiroga, in a sweet-yet-venomous way, seems to be a call to arms to put words into actions and delivers it with a punch. The final track, Winter, displays an edgier side to the band, much more riff-heavy, and is a perfect way to finish off this teaser.

While a 4-track EP is a difficult platform to accurately sum up a band, their performance and future, the passion and drive are clearly evident, and it's enough to put them up there with some of the region's best, with definitely bigger things to come from this Dubai-based band.

Sho? are quite the unique entity within the music scene in Dubai, it seems. With strong vocals and great song-writing, these guys are sure to make a much bigger impact in the future. Although only a short teaser of their capabilities, it's a well put-together piece of song-writing and we look forward to hearing more from them.
