Radio Clash - mixed by DJ Solo

This is a bit of a unique one for us here at triplew.me – not only can we give an opinion about the album, we can give you a link to listen for yourself AND download it if you like it – the whole thing!

For those newly acquainted to Dubai-based DJ Solo, here’s the low-down: he’s a Hip Hop / Funk / Beats DJ and Producer who hails from the UK originally, and now, with a few of his DJ buddies, is part of one of the most original DJ nights in town with the Freshly Laced evenings.

With Radio Clash, DJ Solo’s mixed up another storm with a healthy 40-track mix of everything he’s known for and some great surprises along the way. Radio Clash is original (there is some seriously awesome old hip hop/funk moments in the mix), cheerful and laidback but at the same time eminently, toe-tappingly-awkwardly, dance-able (have any of you seen me dance?).

Almost purposefully built to fulfill any of the following: lounging with refreshments, being in a Lounge with refreshments, any point on a night out really; busting some awkwardness on the dancefloor or writing articles at 10pm at night (as is happening now, again, on the 4th listen), Radio Clash is one of the most original sets that we’ve heard from a DJ in Dubai in recent memory, if not this year.

You don’t need to hear anymore from us now.

Mixing the old school hip hop and funk, with spoonfuls of afro and dashes of soul (cool analogy dies now), DJ Solo has produced another great mix that really shines on a light on some of our best talent in the region.
