Fighters Of The Shadow is a well composed, beautifully produced album from Lebanese up and coming electronic artist DJad. The album opens with the title track, which offers a lush arrangement in a professional electronic aesthetic – and is one of the more grandiose numbers on the album.

The mood on FOTS oscillates between chilled out tones and harder beats – between futuristic sounds and a more laid back approach. This record is more organic than robotic but still has a unique sense of contrast which helps adds an interesting dimension to the album which will keep you tuned.

It’s a bit of a rollercoaster ride – half soundtrack inspired, half dance-music – from some more melancholic tracks (Illogical World, Lost Thinkers) to a flair of drama (such as on house-tinged track Deception) and some minimalism on the closing track (Dive).

DJad manages to tell us a story without needing the help of words and that is a feat by itself. Add to that the level of intricacy found on the songs on Fighters Of The Shadow, and you have an accomplished, inspiring, ambitious and a moving electronica record.
