Coat of Arms - This is Manslaughter

Abu Dhabi-based metalcore band Coat of Arms have released their 3rd long-player – This Is Manslaughter – read The Squid’s review and make your own mind up.

This is a solid effort from Coat of Arms on their 3rd album. It’s a well accomplished offering with great grooves throughout, and for a self-produced release, seems a good sound within their abilities. Tight melodies and solid breakdowns with guitars producing a big bottom-end sound from time to time.

Sounding like August Burns Red or A Day To Remember, the band have produced an album that sits at the accessible end of the spectrum for a Metalcore release. A particular highlight is the breakdown on When I Leave with the best track being Hold On Tight which is a well-written song that’s a highlight on the album.

This Is Manslaughter won’t set the world on fire for a long period of time, but that’s not the point. Besides, plenty have made it in this genre with offerings far less accomplished.

The guys have put together a solid release with a marked improvement, showing plenty of potential. Next time around they should look to push themselves further and outside of the comfort zones to really follow this up well and make a noise globally.
