Nervecell - Psychogenocide

Nervecell is a death Metal band from Dubai which has amassed an impressive amount of success with their quality Metal music. Read below for triplew.me’s review of their latest album, Psychogenocide.

Psychogenocide, which is Nervecell sophomore release on Lifeforce records – cements the band’s stature as one of the Middle East’s top Death Metal and Metal bands in general. The album flows in a steadily brutal manner, from the opening notes of ‘Anemic Assurgency’ – which is the album’s purely Middle Eastern intro – to the closing growls of ‘Nation’s Plague’.

Psychogenocide, marks the sound of a band that has found its stability and maturity. The excellent production and sound, on its own, is impressive enough. But coupled with the band’s amazing attention to details and immense talent behind their respective instruments, elevates the album to new spheres.

Upon An Epidemic Scheme’ – backed up with crazily urgent drumming and some old-school shredding is a perfect opener for Psychogenocide. It’s a dark and melodic track, but deliciously gruesome. Nervecell do flex a muscle or two with their impressive and classic guitar solos (such as on 'Amok Doctrine' and the title track 'Psychogenocide').

One of the album’s highlights is definitely 'Shunq (To the Despaired…King of Darkness)' – the song has a special appeal to it – as it features lyrics in English and in Arabic. It also features vocals from Karl Sanders (Lead singer of Nile)

Psychogenocide is a bright addition to the region’s musical exports in the genre of Metal. Its old-school and straight to the point approach is highly refreshing and highly appreciated.

An impressive second offering from UAE's own Nervecell. If you are into Metal (of any kind) you have to check this record out. Psychogenocide has the timeless sound of old-school Metal albums with a very cool oriental twist.
