Friday November 5 will see a treat for metal fans in the UAE, and the region as a whole, with the folks at Metal Asylum organizing Metal Asylum Open Air at the Metropolitan Hotel that will feature German thrash metal powerhouse Hatred as well as 7 UAE-based metal or hard rock bands.
As Rodi Hennawi, promoter of Metal Asylum, puts it “after the success we have had over the last two years I think it is about time for Metal Asylum to do something unique and different to help the UAE music community,” he continues “the local bands deserve an open air festival like any other international band and that is the whole point of the festival.”
German powerhouse thrash metal band Hatred, promoting their latest album Destruction Manual will be playing at the Open Air festival. As Bacchus, vocalist for the band, says ahead of the gig “We had the time of our life at Dubai Desert Rock Festival last year,” he goes on to say “it was absolute[ly] impressive to play with Motörhead, Opeth and Arch Enemy at such a place, but what impressed us much more were the crowd – the Metal Heads in the Middle East.”
“After the show we talked to so many people and we felt this huge enthusiasm about Metal that you’ll find nearly nowhere in Europe – it was an absolute blast for us to meet these people” adds Bacchus.
In addition to the German imports, some great regional talent will be on show. Joining Hatred will be The Crow Murder, Sho?, Perversion, Revolution Junkies, Coat of Arms, Riff Raff, Vin Sinners and Spaghetti Junction.
Make sure you come along to see some great local talent and be treated to one of the heavy hitters on the global metal scene at the Metropolitan Hotel in Dubai. If you’re outside the UAE, it might be a great time to visit and catch a different vibe in the city.

Metal Asylum Open Air 2010 will be held at the Metropolitan Hotel softball ground on November 5th from 1pm until 11pm.
Gates open at 1pm and the first band is on at 2pm.
Tickets cost AED100 and can be purchased directly from the Metropolitan Hotel from Saturday 30th October or can be purchased at the gate on the day.
