A lot of people would argue that pop music had an amazing decade in the 90’s – and that isn’t far from the truth, because the genre of pop in the 90’s was inclusive of so many sounds and almost everything you heard on the radio was, constantly and consistently, was good and refreshing (save for the teenybopper and boy bands’ late 90's stint on the airwaves).
And in recent years there has been a resurgence in bands reviving the 80’s sound – so it’s fair to say that, probably sooner than we anticipate, there is going to be a major 90’s revival – which explains why there is an increased interest in 90’s bands reforming and touring again, and one of these bands is Republica – the group best known for their brand of “electronica” or how they described it as “techno-pop punk rock”, was formed in 1994, released two albums (self titled and From Rush Hour with Love), had huge hits with their songs “Ready To Go” and “Drop Dead Gorgeous” with over two million copies sold internationally.
In April 2010, following a ten year hiatus, the band announced that they were reuniting for a tour including gigs around the world as well as some festivals – which they supported by releasing an updated version of their world-wide hit “Ready To Go”
And this January, Republica are set to bring their show to Dubai with support from the city’s favorite rockers Juliana Down – so mark this one on your calendars!
Both bands will be performing at the Music Room on the 13th of January 2011, doors open at 7.30 PM and tickets are priced at DHS 100
