2012: A Year of Heroes

The Dark Knight Rises - 2012 Most Anticipated Release?

It seems that this year will be a good one for all super-hero movie lovers. The line-up of blockbusters coming out of gigantic Hollywood studios is impressive to say the least. We take a look at the five biggest films coming out this year…

The Avengers

From housing characters such as the "X-Men" and the "Ironman", the graphic novel publishers slash production house is coming out with the massively anticipated and massively produced “The Avengers”. The film will be directed by Joss Whedon. And if you’ve watched any of the latest super-hero films (e.g. "Captain America", "Thor" ) you will have almost certainly noticed the build-up to “The Avengers”.

The film will feature all of the favorite characters from past films in a bid to save the earth once more.

The Amazing Spider-Man

Remaking successful film adaptations is a Hollywood cliché by now. No summer passes by without a new sequel or an addition to a successful franchise. And the Spider-Man franchise is no different!

In this ‘new’ big-screen adaptation, the creators have promised a version truer to the original comics than its predecessors. Spider-Man/Peter Parker will be played by up-and-coming actor Andrew Garfield (of "The Social Network" fame) and Emma Stone will be reprising her role of MJ.

The Dark Knight Rises

Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of the iconic Batman story will go down as one of the best. The director succeeded in presenting the audiences with a dark, grim and top-notch series of films based around the distressed superhero.

This summer Nolan & Co will be back with the third and final installment of “The Dark Knight”. The acclaimed cast returns with Christian Bale playing Bruce Wayne/Batman and Anne Hathaway will be playing the role of Catwoman.

Skyfall

James Bond is one of the most known name/characters in the history of modern cinemas. Skyfall is Bond’s 23rd film in a long and successful series.
