ADFF Day 2 and 3 Review

Adrien Brody, star of Wrecked was in attendance at Encounters at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival

Days 2 and 3 of the Abu Dhabi Film Festival, show-cased a great array of talent and ended superbly for us with François Ozon's French masterpiece Potiche starring the irrespresable Gérard Depardieu.

DAY 2

Day 2 saw a number of highlights on the program, including the gala screenings of Cirkus Columbia and the anticipated West Is West, both great ways to round out an active day that saw a lot of screenings and good crowds.

Adrien Brody and the crew from Wrecked, following its triumphant debut the night before, made an appearance at the popular 'Encounters' series to discuss the film - see an extract below:

Other highlights on Day 2 included the restored screening of The Mummy, a screening of the documentary The Oath and numerous other too-many-to-mention highlights (ok, well, here's a couple: Incendies, Silent Souls, Submission, The Kingdom of Women and Cane Toads: The Conquest (in 3D no less) and Children of The Stones).

DAY 3

Ah Day 3, you were a highlight! The undoubted highlight for triplew.me was the screening of Potiche, the French comedy/farce/political/drama everything film directed by François Ozon and starring the charismatic legend of French cinema Gérard Depardieu.  It was indeed a highlight - try to catch it if you can (see the trailer below). Other highlights included Slackistan, Chronicle of a Disappearance and the fantastic I Travel Because I Have to, I Come Back Because I Love You (Viajo porque preciso, volto porque te amo). Do make sure you can get along to the festival to catch these films before they depart!
