“Hey Steroidface! Why don’t you watch Transformers and j***-off to it!!”
Gotta love a movie worth its PG 18+ rating.
Not many like to admit their soft spot for movies which revolve around ridiculously good-looking people’s relationship issues. That being said, it takes courage to pay your money and sit down with a girlfriend who adores these types of films. You dread the sarcastic and wry comments that threaten to cause an aneurysm for any lover of cinema.
Luckily, no such issue with this film.
Justin Long and Drew Barrymore play two estranged lovers that meet under ordinary circumstances in an ordinary bar. As with most couples in the real world, they’re frustrated, lonely, horny and have irregular sleep patterns. And that's the essence of the film; and granted it’s not an original concept. But the swearing and frequent references to genitalia make up for it. The cast including Charlie Day (Steve Carrell’s wannabe), Jason Sudeikis, Jim Gaffigan and Christina Applegate, if anything, outshine the two leading actors with their occasional prudency, wise advice and time-machine moustaches.
That aside the thing about this film is that it evokes some pretty outlandish sounding giggles. The cinema was doubling over and it allowed us to let our inner 12 year old expose our unashamed delight whenever adult references were made (what is it with those moments being so unexpected here?): used just enough and said at the most unexpected times.
So if you’re wondering if this is a chick-flick that you could possibly stomach, the only question should be if you can pass off as an 18 year old to see this movie!

The witty dialogue and feel-good fun of the film.
If this type of movie is definitely not your cup of tea, then your mind is made up. We dare you to give it a chance though.
