Good versus evil – the classic premise for a thousand stories. And it’s a story you have most likely seen at least three hundred times; but perhaps not in MEGA awesome animated 3D! Read triplew.me's review of Megamind...
In the bustling urban sprawl of Metrocity, the blue bubble headed alien named Megamind (Voiced by Will Ferrell) declares that he is on a mission; “To be the incredibly handsome criminal genius and mastermind of all villainy” [complete with questionable grammar – ed]
Also from a similarly distant planet, super hero Metro-Man (Voiced by Brad Pitt) is the ‘do-gooder’ good guy; complete with cheesy action man voice, perfectly manicured hair and an excessively square jaw line.
Now enter the rather luscious Roxanne Ritchi (Voiced by Tina Fey), a smart news reporter and love interest of the two most powerful archenemies in Metrocity. The classic premise is set; one salubriously smooth super hero – one quite ugly criminal mastermind – and one pretty girl… here is where the battles commence!
Unluckily, after one such epic battle, Metro-Man is zip zapped with the sun generated nuclear “death-ray”; it seems he has been toasted to death.
But without Megamind, Roxanne, or the good citizens of Metrocity knowing it, he miraculously survives and goes into hiding; supposedly retiring his skin tight tights and cape forever. With Metro-Man out of the picture, and no one to wage war on, an extremely bored Megamind decides to simply “create” another good guy super hero.
He comes in the form of Hal Stewart, who just so happens to be Roxanne’s television cameraman.
Hal, who renames himself “Tighten” (Titan), is unfortunately a terribly flawed character; unable to use his new found super powers (Including flying and laser beam eyes) for good cause. To make matters worse, he has had his romantic advances declined by the sassy Roxanne… trouble brews in three dimensions.
Meanwhile, Megamind is realizing that he is quite sick of being the evil criminal genius, declaring; “Maybe I don’t want to be the bad dude any more”… And thus begins a violent clash with the ever antagonizing Tighten.
Put your 3D specs on, dive into a bucket of popcorn and find out if Megamind can sincerely convert his evil ways, save the city from annihilation, and in true animated Hollywood fashion – finally get the girl…
