From meeting in Dubai long ago through to taking the UK and now the world by storm, Foreign Beggars recently played a blistering set to an intimate crowd on a chilly Dubai night.
UAE Hip Hop crew, The Recipe, opened for the Foreign Beggars and did a great job in warming up the crowd, which due to matters outside the control of the performers and concert organizers, and had thinned considerably.
The guys (P-Storm, Hirabeat, Swerte, Kaz Money and DJ Flash B) played a blistering and well targeted set that included a b-boy challenge for the crowd, with a number of future stars of the street-dance giving it their all on stage.
After playing a good number of tunes, the boys made way for the main act, Foreign Beggars, who to their credit played a blistering set when they could’ve sat inside the relative comfort of the nearby mall and hotels.
And what a set it was. If you’re not familiar with the ‘Beggars then you need to come up to speed quick smart. Combining the raw elements of hip hop via grime and dubstep to amazing (and extraordinarily loud) effect, the set was an eclectic mix that on any other occasion would’ve had the crowd tearing down the walls.
The boys (including MC’s Metropolis and Orifice Vulgatron) along with DJ Nonames put on an energetic and great, and to be fair in the circumstances, long set. Ranging from some great straight out rap and hip hop early on, to displaying some massive grime and dubstep later in the set, this is hands-down one of the best sets of its kind that we’ve seen.
Note to couple with 4-6 month old baby: Do not bring an infant incapable of supporting its own head to a massive-sounding-end-of-performance dubstep marathon. Pretty sure that’s child abuse in 99.9% of countries.
