Tunes of the Dead

Fever Ray - one of our 'scary' tunes

Halloween is a holiday inspired by creepy creatures, horror tales, and spooky environments – so how would one imagine a Halloween soundtrack to sound like?

We reckon some of it would be over the top almost comedic takes on horror stories while some of it might be downright creepy in nature. We’ve compiled a list of albums we think would make a kickass soundtrack to a Halloween night (or any other night you feel like a good zombie inspired song)

Bauhaus pre-album singles

"Bela Lugosi's Dead", "Dark Entries", "Terror Couple Kill Colonel" and "Telegram Sam" all sound eerie, dark and almost twisted. This comes as no surprise for Bauhaus – and their brand of goth-rock/post-punk – plus, really anything that came from that time in the late 70’s/early 80’s was bound to sound a little creepy.

Misfits – Legacy of Brutality

This compilation of rarities from the godfathers of horror punk is good Halloween music if only for the track aptly titled Halloween.

Type O Negative – Bloody Kisses

It veers on depressing sometimes, but it is still essentially goth and some of the themes are vampire related!

Zombina and the Skeletons - Out of the Crypt and Into Your Heart

How can we not include them with a name like that? Music of horror and humor combined!

Fever Ray – Fever Ray

An astounding album in its own right – but the music is haunting! It works well in a scarier, less friendly Halloween context.

HorrorPops – Bring it On

For a less serious, more fun side of horror themed music – this is Halloween music you can dance to!

Plus a special bonus track!
