Following a busy week of working at In The Mix, an appearance on Dubai One's 20Something program and 2 gigs, Shady Ahmed and his band returned to Cairo recently after collecting his Makshoof Music prize.
Staying in Dubai at the funky Media One Hotel, Shady and his band, (who included for this trip; Ahmed Bahaa (Percussion), Sherif Mostafa (Keyboards), Tamer Hashem (Drums) and Jimmy Shokair (Bass)) had a week of work ahead of them and delivered on every level.
While recording at In The Mix studios in Dubai, Shady took some time out to appear on Dubai One's 20Something TV show, perform a gig at the Music Room (video below) and a media/music industry event in the Media One Hotel.
As Shady himself put it, "The experience was better than anything we had ever hoped for, Nash was great to work with, always guiding you and giving you the space to breathe, you were really patient with us brother and we appreciate everything you did for us." He added, "As for the folks at triplew, we in the band would just like to say that we all think we have family in Dubai now, thanks to you guys we got to live out our dreams for a week. We wish for bigger and better things for all of you, as well as a greatly deserved successful future in all your next ventures. Peace and love from Cairo"
The whole week was designed around the notion of discovery and opportunity, and to display triplew.me's commitment to music (and all other!) talent in the region getting seen, heard and developed inside the region. It's a highlight for us to finally be able to show the level of support for triplew.me, and more importantly, demonstrate to artists that all rewards we offer are real and can at least suggest an enhancement of a career in a chosen industry!
And all this ahead of the next Makshoof Music initiative...
