Six Spring Albums We Look Forward To!

Architecture in Helsinki - New Album in May!

So much music, so little time! It’s only April, but this year has been amazing with fantastic releases from across the board – Radiohead, The Decemberists, Lyyke Li, Adele and Cut Copy to name a few, have all released some sublime music and we can’t wait to hear more in May!

Architecture in Helsinki – Moment Bends

Some three years in the making, following their 2007 release Places Like This – the Melbourne art-rock/pop quintet are set to be back with their new release and judging by the new (insanely catchy) single “Contact Hight” it’s going to be a good one (we hope!)

Fleet Foxes – Helplessness Blues

The follow-up to Fleet Foxes’ hugely successful debut album – Helplessness Blues – is already gaining a lot of momentum and generating a lot of positive buzz. The band put up the title track as a free download on their website.

Moby – Destroyed

Moby’s back!  The electronic producer will be releasing his 10th studio – and has already taken on some accompanying projects including a photography book and a music video competition in association with Saatchi & Saatchi and Vimeo. By the sound of things, this one is going to be a banger. Stay tuned for our extensive coverage of Destroyed.

The Antlers – Burst Apart

Following up their critically acclaimed debut album “Hospice” – The Brooklyn band are releasing a new record, which they played in entirety at this year’s SXSW (video available over at the NPR Music site). Expecting more of the vulnerable, conceptualized sensibilities found on the first album.

Art Brut – Brilliant! Tragic!

The art rock band are releasing their 4th studio album this year – the album was produced by Frank Black of Pixies fame (he also produced their last release). So we don’t expect a massive shift in sound, but the quality will definitely be in abundance!

Okkervil River – I Am Very Far

The first album from the Austin band since their 2008 release “The Stand Ins”. Judging from early listens (you can get a free download from their site) – it isn’t going to sound so wildly different (no synth pop here!), but an obvious injection of “atmosphere” is apparent and very much welcomed.
