Interview: RaSh Radio

triplew.me interviews RaSh Radio about his new video

We catch up with RaSh Radio, the charismatic singer/songwriter from Cairo just after the release of his first official video for the single “Ghosts”. He tells us about how it all came to life, so read below for all the details!

Hey RaSh! Well done on the beautiful video. What wonderful and striking images.

How did you come to choose the interpretive dance concept?

I felt it was the most expressive thing that could work with the song.

Tell us about the director and how you think she expressed your ideas.

Nurah Farahat is good friend of mine. She's an award winning director with a vision, so she did a lot more than just expressing my ideas.

What did you think of the dancers?

The dancers were simply amazing on the technical side, and were very receptive to new ideas, and suggestions about the choreography through out the whole process.

Did you hold auditions?

I watched some videos of them doing a couple of interpretive pieces before we started the whole thing, so I knew they were exactly what I was looking for.

How involved were you with the process?

I sat with Nurah, and we wrote a detailed script for the video. She took over from there and did her magic with everything from picking the location, to following up with the dancers and the choreography, while updating me every step of the way.

This is your first official video, and you do not appear in it! Was that OK with you?

Yeah, it was my choice not to from the start. The song is a story about two people, and it would've looked rather forced for me to cut in for a shot or two, especially with the way it was shot.

Did you have other concepts you wanted to execute?

The script was filled with locations and story lines, but considering the resources we had, I'm quite happy with the end result.

Why did you pick “Ghosts” to get a video?

I was actually doing another video for a song called Irish Coffee with Nurah, when I wrote Ghosts, and it just felt right to start with that one instead.

Tell us about your plans for an album release.

The plan is to keep writing, recording, and sending out demos, until a decent label picks it up eventually…hopefully.
