In this section you will find triplew.me's attempt at answering your questions - but if you've got something specific click here and let us know.
True. We try hard to be independent. We try very hard to make sure we’re building a future for music and film in the Middle East. Why? Well, anyone who’s been to London, New York, Paris, Moscow, Barcelona, Sydney, Tokyo, Bangkok (do we need to list them all?), knows that a creative city is a dynamic city. Grass-roots music and film is the cornerstone of most societies and we’re giving you a medium. Your work is protected and most of all, promoted.
On triplew.me you can create what you want, within the ‘three golden rules’:
You own it. Easy. The little box you tick about the terms and conditions is that for the purpose it is intended (ie. You’re a band and have submitted some tunes for Makshoof) you 100% own the copyright and just agree for us to promote your work. You can ask us to drop it at any time. We’ll do it. Easy.
The world is our home. It’s changing. It doesn’t take a scientist to see our world is a different place to what it was. We believe that our small carbon footprint should be offset to make sure triplew.me leaves only good things behind. You can find out about how we do this and why here.
triplew.me has invested in some very expensive technology that allows us to give you the best quality at just 32kpbs – 48kbps. Most internet streaming happens at 128kpbs. When there is such low bandwidth, sometimes the steam doesn’t buffer as much as it should. Then it cuts out temporarily. We can’t help that but we can help to minimize that:
We also really need to know when things go wrong, songs sound like they are skipping and generally sound isn’t what you’d expect from triplew.me – in this case use the Contact Us form and if you can give us your location, time and a really precise definition of the problem.
True. We are the same as most media outlets, and more – only when it comes to censorship. triplew.me respects the culture, values and customs of all countries in the Middle East. That’s why we censor music, comments and film on our site. It means that it doesn’t get shut down and we continue to give you the content we work so hard to get on to this site.
We do ask you to register for some things. This is so we (and only we) can stay in touch with you and so that we’re not getting robots submitting bad songs to us. No-one likes bad robot songs.
We go so far as to say you won’t hear Lady Gaga sing about her muffin or****ie and her body parts. But that’s actually for a COMPLETELY different reason. If you’re reading this, you'll know that though.
Well, it’s a long story, but sometimes we need to approve each submission to make sure it isn't controversial.
Approvals shouldn’t be longer than 1 hour, but it might be. Bear with us for a while til we find a way that works. You can also use facebook and twitter.
We don’t have the system 100% perfect, but we’ll get there. Let us know if you want to help at the Contact Us page and we can let you know about our volunteer projects.
We are. But you have to trust us on that one. No details leave our hot little hands.
We can’t promise someone won’t submit something under a fake name. In fact, it’s to be expected. We have countries that have strong views on certain genders and lifestyle choices that we need to respect. That shouldn’t stop creativity.
If you win something and you don’t want your name, gender or country known, we won’t tell anyone. We will prove that a prize has been given and we expect most people will want them to know who they are.
Perfect! We want you to help us build content for the Arabic site. Get in touch with us at Contact Us.
But to answer the question – we are offering an alternative to anything in the Middle East. Sure, you can listen to internet radio from the UK, US or anywhere, but not tailored for the Middle East. Because this is alternative, we’re playing a lot of western alternative music. It’s not a racial thing, and we have a number of Arabic artists in the lineup. But if its radio pop, then it don’t wash.
